We aim to establish the SIWF research department as an innovative leader in research on postgraduate medical education and continuing professional development in health, through three overarching pillars of research, education and collaboration.

Research not only provides the foundation for evidence-informed educational innovations but also ensures the relevance of education activities in rapidly evolving healthcare environments. Our goal is to ensure that the research we produce not only addresses critical challenges in education but also informs post-graduate training and assessment of residents, and the reform towards competency based medical education. Our research will stand on par with globally published studies, fostering innovation and shaping future best practices. Through rigorous inquiry and active participation in international research collaborations, we aim to influence and advance healthcare education for post-graduate and continuing education in Switzerland.

Education Activities

Promoting a culture of inquiry, the SIWF research department seeks to bridge the gap between education, science, and practical implementation. Its goal is to empower SIWF to develop sustainable, fit-for-purpose education initiatives that meaningfully impact professional practice, and contribute to improved healthcare for both patients and healthcare professionals.

Collaborative Activities

We inform our research by building collaborations with researchers and education experts nationally and internationally. The SIWF research department members also contribute to the field of health professions education by building quality publications for peer-reviewed journals, serving in committees and as peer-reviewers, and participating actively in international conferences.
